Topic
DESIGNING CHILLED BEAM SYSTEMS
Have you veered away from chilled beam systems because of cost concerns or uncertainty about when to use them? When designed properly and in the correct application, chilled beam systems can be an incredibly cost-effective option!
The session will touch on:
- Why chilled beams?
- Energy advantages, aesthetics, thermal comfort, minimal maintenance, acoustics, and system longevity
- Basic design approach and principles of chilled beam operation
- Overview of typical de-coupled designs using chilled beam and DOAS platform
- Passive vs Active chilled beam systems
- CAV vs VAV primary air configurations
- Space layout considerations when placing and sizing chilled beams
- Where to (and where NOT to) apply chilled beams
- Chilled beam contributions toward LEED certification
- Humidity control in radiant and chilled beam buildings
- Custom and creative opportunities with chilled beams
- Heating with chilled beams
Speaker Info
For the month of May, the Northern Indiana Chapter would like to welcome Matt Pemberton. Matt has been a Regional Manager for Dadanco starting in 2016. Since 2005, time has been spent in application engineering and regional management focusing on induction systems, chilled beams, induction displacement and DOAS systems. ASHRAE presentations have focused on DOAS systems, chilled beam design and implementing energy recovery wheels in critical duty applications.
